Congratulations to Mike Kosowski. He is officially the winner in the PokerStars Million Dollar Challenge.
The former New York City Detective Sergeant’s experience on 9/11 left him injured and stricken with severe asthma. As a result he was forced to retire, and with the spare-time on his hands, he started Playing poker.
Kosowski and his wife, in 2007 were watching the World Series of Poker and first saw Daniel Negreanu play. Koskowski said to his wife, “I’m going to play him some day and I’m going to beat him.”
Kosowski saw a commercial advertising the the PokerStars Million Dollar Challenge on television, just a couple of months ago. He participated, beat out 16,000 players online, and had a chance to go to L.A. for a taping of the show.
Thanks to a twist of fate, Kosowski managed to get his chance to play on TV. From there, he began to dominate table after table and made it all the way to a heads-up match with Daniel Negreanu.
